Our curriculum includes a thorough exploration of dental anatomy, terminology, dental procedures, and radiography. It also includes instruction and hands-on training with patient care techniques, infection control, and dental office management. After successful completion of the academy, you will receive your RHS (Radiation Health and Safety Practice) and BLS certification required to apply for dental assisting positions.
Program Overview
Our 12-week hybrid program consists of both an asynchronous online curriculum component – where students will be working through “The Modern Dental Assistant” curriculum modules outside of school hours – paired with onsite in person learning. The asynchronous learning consists of modules that contain theory readings through powerpoints, videos, activities, and quizzes which are assigned through our Learning Management System. In person instruction consists of theory lecture, group discussion, review, assessments, and hands-on application with lab skills. The typical class day is set up with the first hour focused on review, discussion, and an assessment of content followed by 3 hours of hands-on lab skills where peers and instructors interact with the application portion of Dental Assisting. Students are welcome to work on asynchronous work on campus when time allows and during operation hours if desired. There are 148 hours of theory and 123 hours of hands-on practice making the program a total of 271 hours.
